Studied in more than 1,100 patients with lupus

BENLYSTA was tested in the largest successful SLE clinical trial program to date. Clinical trials are medical research studies that test the safety and effectiveness of a medicine.

BENLYSTA was tested together with a number of other medicines that are accepted by experts and widely used to treat lupus symptoms. These medicines, which varied from person to person, included: corticosteroids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), antimalarials, and immunosuppressants.

Proven to provide superior disease activity reduction when added to other lupus medicines

When the trials were completed, they showed that more people treated with BENLYSTA plus other lupus medicines experienced a superior reduction in disease activity than those who received the other medicines alone.

This reduction in disease activity was mainly due to improvements in the parts of the body most commonly affected among people living with lupus: the skin, the mouth, the joints and muscles, and the immune system.
